Speed to burn
Great day's ahead! The North Pacific has come alive this last week with a series of intense low pressure systems rolling in. Storm to gale force winds with juicy waves expected through to next weekend. OR kite designer Ross Harrington is pictured testing a 2008 concept kite on April 13 in perfect glass conditions at our local speed beach. This 1 km drag strip lets us test the top end speed potential of our kites and boards when the wind is pushing past 40 knots.

dark clouds
Days like today are a great reminder of the extreme gust / danger potential associated with large dark clouds. While running through some kite testing today, the wind was ranging from 10 to 20 knots, with the odd 35 knot blast coming through with the clouds. While an experienced rider with a bridled SLE kite can handle this, older C kites can be a real handful in these conditions due to less available depower.
If the clouds are dark and looming upwind,...its probably wise to wait for another day!

It's all work around here,....honestly!
Another rough week at Ocean Rodeo central. Nothing but work, work, work around here as we finalize the OR clothing project.
Joris (OR technical web/graphics guru) seems to be taking a long time on this one,.....I'm sure he's enjoying these images more than our regular kite pics!
