It was decided that the day was for my Mako Classic, my blue beauty. The wind was much stronger than I anticipated. I was fully sheeted in and at the edge of safe use of my 9M. After lunch, the wind picked up even more and I switched to my 7M Core GTS2.

Gear: 5m Storm , 20 m lines 132 airush TT

30-40 knots has to be the sweet spot for the Storm, again on 20m lines. Really comfortable at both ends of the range and gusts were barely noticeable . Also how the Storm flies forward in the window, gives great versatility. Plenty of boost and loops nicely. What I also like about this kite is how it sits still on the beach even in 40knots+ without any sand on it.

40-55 kts!! Pretty fierce gusts but storm was comfortable. Everyone else was scared off the water as wind went over 45 knots. If I'd known it was going to hit 55kts, I'd probably have packed up too. But I felt it was an essential test ride. Rare to have 50+ without an accompanying storm in this location.Easy self launch and comfortable to handle- definitely better on short lines in my opinion.

Brilliant session with Richar Muller and myself the only kites on the water. I did manage to dump my kite 3 times. The last time, it folded and would not relaunch in the deep water. I had to swim about 75 meters towards shore until I could touch the bottom. The lines sorted then when I had sufficient back pressure and th kite relaunched.

Gear: Rise XPD 9M, Mako Wide, Mako Classic

nice sunny day for mid January. I had my new Lobster 3mm neoprene gloves on and they were toasty warm. The biggest difference is that the gloves held water out. This is different from my old Whites diving gloves. No cold water flush. The wind was about 15M/s when I arrived. I started the session with the Rise 9M and the Mako Wide and ended on the 12M Core and Mako Skinny after my lunch break because the wind fell to about 10 M/s.
