Gear: Rise XPD 9M, Mako wide

A very nice day on the water with only 5 other kites. The wind was oscilating between 11 m/s and 8 m/s. The good combination appeared to be the 9M and a the Mako Wide. I never got on my King as Richard borrowed that...

Started session as solo on a perfect day with small waves. 10m was quickly overpowered so tried out the Rise and was not disappointed. Great fun on both the surfboard and especially mucking about on the TT. The circus arrived after 4pm which was fine as I was knackered by then. grin

They promised strong wind and rain in that order. I got in 1.5 hours of really good conditons for my 9M and my Classic. Then the rain started whipping directly in my eyballs and that stings. Conditions: gusty, 12-17 m/s. Small chop.

Started on the Mako Wide and out past the sand reef with small waves. The water was very low so I had to go out far. Took a break and then went out on the Mako Skinny Classic. Chose the flat water inside the sand reef and boy did I carve!

Amped after that session. Maxed out on the 7m, Gales force winds hitting 45 knots. I hate to say the Cabi is bullet proof. My mate was on his 5m and comfortable, me on the 7m (remind myself it's all about calculated risk) arghh, gotta get me a 5m for more days like this. Carving down the line was not only exhilarating but freakin scary. I just kept accelerating, It was like putting your foot an the accelerator in your car, knowing you had no brakes. Loved it though. Cant wait for more days like this. Really loving the cross off conditions.

Finally got to lock into the Marie Swell. What a blast. Catching them at the buoy and taking them as close as is smart to the beach. Took a right at the end when the wind was dropping and got too far under the kite. Released everything hoping for less drag. The kite survived! A testament to it's build. Board unscathed as well. Great to get the reef while it was breaking.
