- Directions:Drive up island on the number 1 highway to the Cowichan Lake turn off (Hwy 18) just past Duncan. Follow around north side of Cowichan Lake to Youboo and get on Cowichan Lake main logging road. Follow main logging road towards Carmanah. 1-1.5 hours drive
- Note:The logging road can be a bit overwhelming but is easy, just always follow the largest road and continue west, not north. As the road turns south and climbs a hill towards Carmanah you will see the kites in the air and the lake, stay right here and you'll be in the town of Nitinat! Camping is in the camp ground beyond the village and is $10/ vehicle / night. Bring fresh water and food! There is a motel in town too and one small gas station which doubles as a general store and eatery. Welcome to the island!
