Nothing to do with kiteboarding… at all.

This video just came across my desk and I thought the Crew would get a kick out of it. His name is Beardyman and he lives in Brighton, which is very close to both Andy, Harry and Ben Vine from our Crew.

Technically minded ones out there will appreciate knowing that he’s using 2 Korg Kaoss KP3 Pads with decidedly better skills than their own demo video shows.

Enjoy!

grin  He moves in a way that is reminiscant of Kevin’s brother at Nitinat last year. Incidentally he was last seen in the wee small hours dancing round the main camp fire behind some dude with the biggest Affro wig I’ve ever seen!

Did he ever make it back to civilisation?

Awesome, thanks for that John.  I’m a huge Massive Attack fan and thought that was great.  I’ve been looking at getting a Korg Koassilator for messing around with, which are much simpler to use.  He sure got some skills!

Dude, no kidding. I spent close to an hour on his Myspace last night checking his skills out. He’s a master with the Kaoss pad, this video’s a bit wonky but it is a great example of how comfortable he is with the technology. (He’s also a very impressive beat boxer, many of his videos on Myspace are just him beat boxing).

Andy…thanks for your concern. He was last spotted roaming around Turkey with this fellow:

Hey John,

I totally agree on the beardyman tip, did you listen to the minimix for Annie Mac on his myspace page? Every week she gets different artists to put together a 5 minute mix, Beardyman’s is mind blowing. Check out his version of Radiohead - National Anthem. Awesome.

Since we’re off topic, check this out, he’s a local rider tearing up the streets of Edinburgh. Enjoy.

Cheers,

Iain

Iain! I will need to check those mixes out but had been meaning to ask you if you knew Danny. I saw that video for the first time on Facebook about 2 or 3 weeks ago, he is so talented!

Hope you’re well mate.

John, I don’t know him but did meet him last weekend at the MTB Downhill World Cup where he was doing a demo. Like you say, he’s so talented and a decent bloke too.

I hope things are good with you Mate.

My fav section of the video is 3:10 forward but really, it’s sweet the whole way through. I love Band Of Horses too… such an amazing band.

Love the edit on the super sick drop from the overpass.  Just when the crowd up top gets to the edge the the WTF look on.

Bit off the tree is so cool!

Just to add to the theme, check out these http://www.nike.com/nikeacg/#sweetspots

There’s some sweet snowboard action from BC which raises the question, BC - summer or winter?

Check out #9 + #14, both are great examples of pushing the envelope.

Again, enjoy.

I love where this thread is heading! Iain, that #9 is nuts. I can’t believe that guy skied that without snow… so gnarly.

Constalation, welcome aboard mate! Great video!

This one just came in over the Facebook. So awesome.

I love the dancer, it just goes to show what you can achieve if you’re not afraid to stand out on your own.

If you’re looking for a new challenge and have an old foil kite and a pair of skis lying around, have a look at this for inspiration…

Looking at the last vids, saw the speed riding before, now i know for sure.. I’m a sissie.. (well I pump my kites , no compressor..)
The speedriding is great, don’t use a foil kite, just order the thing at Ozone.
There are some great vids about Wingsuits out there as well.

Yeah, those videos (Janus and Iain) are all nuts. People say Kiteboarding is extreme, not even close… I couldn’t imagine para-skiing like that, so committed. As for the squirrel suit video, I could totally see myself doing that but there is no way I’d do it anywhere near the earth… skydiving with one of those suits would be incredible though.

This one goes out to the King of Pop

He’s fine. Took him a little while to recover but he won bronze in the same event the 1st year he came back. Damn that’s a hard fall though!!

(BTW. Janus, Shane McConkey (video above) is dead and he died doing what he did best but I still think his videos rip and he died in a far more noble pursuit than many do.)

Ah, ok, good to hear he’s ok and ripping hard again. Very nasty fall and not very pleasant to see (from all those angles and slomo’s)
