Hi,

I have a 2008 Rise 12m.  A slight bulge formed on the underside of the strut that’s just left of center.  Failing to take care of it, the bladder blew and made a large rip about 8-10 inches along the seam. 
My first question:  how should I go about repairing it?  I will need to replace the bladder and take care of the seam.  Where can you purchase replacement bladders?  What should I use to mend the rip?  Would you recommend having it professionally repaired?

Secondly, I am looking to expand my quiver (my 12m is my only kite).  I have heard a lot of positives about the 2010 rises.  I’m about 70kgs and use the 12 in anything above 10 knots or so, but want a kite that gives me the ability to ride when its blowing 15-20 knots.  8m? or 9m?

If you are going to repair the ripped strut yourself definately make sure you use the correct thread (V-69 Polyester UV thread).  As far as purchasing a new kite…I’d go for the 8m.  It will give you more high-end and is a very managable gap from your 12m.  Hope this helps,

I think you could try to repair the bladder yourself, but in my opinion it will never be the same and you should just try and replace it. Airtime is the way to go.

The 2010 8m would be a great kite for you. I am about the same size and the 12/8 is a great combo for me. I have a 6m as well for strong winds.
