Hi all, hoping to get some wisdom from all you Ocean Rodeo experts.

Did Ocean Rodeo make a 2009 Rise WITHOUT the venturi?  I just bought a kite that claimed to be a 2009 rise, but when it showed up it had no vents and it seem the bridle has a different pulley configuration then either of my 2008, 2009 or 2010 venturi Rise’s.  It does say “Rise” on the wing tip, just wondering what I really got here.

Please let me know your thoughts.

i’m sorry to say but that looks to me like a 2007 rise.  i hope you didn’t get taken.

I would go 2007 . If it has a pulley attached to the kite then it is the first Rise . http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-3807.html
There is a mod to add length of bridle and move the pulley to the same set up as your later kites. The early kites set up was not good. Modded they a really good kite. The 2007 kites had a little more bottom end than the 2008 but where a lot tricker to fly in low winds and had a tendency to back stall. Apart from that there is little to chose between them. If the material is good and the price right you will have a good kite.
One of my all time faverites which I still have is the 10m 2007 Rise. I know the 10 Razor is better but the old 10m is like the first girlfriend. You never forget the first popper jump. Mind it would be weird to have the old girlfriend hung up in the garage!!

thank you for the replies.  I kinda figured that it was not a 2009 once i was able to look at it close. Does anyone know if ALL 2008 and newer Rises have the venturi? (I am assuming so).

Don’t assume the seller is a kiter just because you bought a kite off them; there is alot of thievery out there.

I spoke with him on the phone before i purchased it, he was a kiter.  I have brought to his attention the misrepresentation of the kite in question and he apologized and offered to give me a full refund.  Its good to know that there are still good people out there   I believe the guy got took when he first bought it.
