janus- that tack was heading back to shore downwind of the outside jettys for the big ships coming into charleston harbor- fun to go out and see some big fins and scare yourself then catch the butter highspeed run back in once in awhile.
thanks Steve and Ocean Rodeo for hooking me up w/ a discount on a board with mine out of warranty.
unsolicited plug- I love the mako king- im 6’4 and ride it and prefer it as my primary board over occasionally riding twin tip and surfboard. I ride it in twin twip mode w/ pads and straps.
Great board for:
fast riding
taking it thru shallows and sandbars here in charleston- glides over minimal water/sand better than any twin twip
smoothing over chop
fun in waves for slashing and has enough glide w/ length when sheeting out
great for big jumping as can hold alot of speed on the giant edge
