This may be a crazy idea but what about organizing a Mako surf invitational?

Essentially all the Mako boards ever made can be ridden effectively in waves. Look at some of the videos of Phillipe Alengrin from 2006-2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc-5rfjJVO0&feature=share&list=PLB81EA22C21D83874&index=5

To ride a Mako in surf requires a different technique and style than a traditional surf board. Why not make an event that reflects this? Besides Phillipe, I know plenty that really rip in waves with their Makos. The question would be would there be enough riders to make such an event? Who would judge it and who would win?

Good idea Kirk. Photo or video? I just need a decent device in order to catch a good shot.

Perhaps as part of a bigger event, otherwise I think it’d be too specialised.  It’s a long drive to Denmark :D
I think the great thing about the Mako is its versatility.  Waves, carving, tricks… all are possible.  Long live the Mako!

What about putting it in Portugal? Or has some presence there and the waves are great.
But you are right, it needs to be a bigger event to get critical mass.

My first thought was it working best as a Global photo competition. That way riders could submit their entry in the gallery for fellow crew members to rate?

You are right. That would work better. Would it be still shots and videos?

One category or a different one for each size of Mako?

Must be serious…I’ve treated myself to a camcorder!

I also have a buddy whose really into his GoPro and quadcoptor. Impressive stuff Andy McCheyne.

See some of his clips on You Tube.
