How to Replace a Front line Swivel on a 2008 Ocean Rodeo SLE Kite bar

Introduction

Follow the simple step by step directions below to upgrade the front line swivel assembly on your 2008 Ocean Rodeo SLE Kite Bar. Or download a step by step pdf here. If for any reason your are not confident in following these steps, please have your local Ocean Rodeo dealer or other qualified individual to assist you.

Removing your old front line swivel assembly

Step 1
Unwind your lines from your bar so you have easy access to the centre trim line.

Step 2
Locate the chicken loop (trim loop).

Step 3
Untie the knot in the main trim line located above the release cuff and pull the trim line free.

Step 4
Pull the centre line through the bar stopper, and through the pulley. This will leave your centre trim line separated from the front line swivel assembly.

Step 5
Disconnect the lark's heads knots from the 2 front flying line leaders. Your front line swivel assembly is now free of the bar and ready to be replaced.

Installing New Front Line Swivel Assembly

Step 1
New Front line swivel assembly.

Step 2
Larks head both front flying lines onto pig tails.

Step 3
Remove any old residual tape from the loose end of your centre trim line.

Step 4
Apply the provided piece of 3.25" x 1" sticky back Dacron tape to the end of the centre trim line. Attach only 0.5" of the tape to line, and roll the remainder into a point.

Step 5
Thread the pointed end of the tape through the pulley.

Step 6
Thread the pointed end of the tape through the bar stopper. IMPORTANT: The large hole openings on the bar stopper should be facing away from the control bar, towards the swivel assembly.

Step 7
Thread the pointed end of the tape through the bar centre hole, then the lower bar stopper and into the rope loop found on upper part of the release cuff.

Step 8
Pull a few inches of your centre line through the release cuff loop to tie your knot. Use a rolling clove hitch as shown or similar self locking knot. Trim the excess tape up to the end of the trim line. You are now ready to ride.
